“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Matthew 5:14
The Church of the Good Shepherd Vestry is a group of dedicated souls that act with faith, wisdom, and strength to steward our church. The Vestry is the legal representative of the parish with regard to all matters pertaining to its corporate property.
Vestry members are elected by the congregation at the January Annual Meeting as the governing body of the parish. The Vestry gives support and guidance to the Clergy and Congregation.
Role of the Vestry
The basic responsibilities of the vestry are to:
- Help define and articulate the mission of the congregation
- Support the church’s mission by word and deed
- Select the rector
- Ensure effective organization and planning
- Manage resources and finances
Executive Committee

Susan Nutting, Senior Warden
Susan has been a member of CGS since 2011 and a resident of Nashua for over 50 years. She and her husband have three adult children and four grandsons. At CGS, she serves as a Lay Eucharistic Minister, Reader, and Worship Leader, and recently completed four years as Vestry Clerk. She serves on the Stewardship Committee, helps stream services, participates in the Prayer Shawl ministry, and contributes to parish life in fun ways—like making icing for the Gingerbread Village.
Outside of CGS, Susan is a Companion in the Society of the Companions of the Holy Cross (SCHC) and a graduate of Education for Ministry (EfM). Before retiring, she worked as a paralegal/office manager for over 20 years and now teaches expressive and mixed media art classes. She enjoys reading, all kinds of crafts, reading the latest action thrillers, spending time with friends, and making memories with her family.

Don Yelton, Junior Warden
Don has been a member of CGS since 1997. He is a member of the Stewardship Committee and the Fundraising Committee. Don is also a Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM) and serves on Finance Committee and the Communication Committee. CGS and our fellow parishioners are an important part of our family’s life. CGS and other churches are at a pivotal point and I want to contribute to making this church an important beacon of light for our congregation and for our community.

John Rowntree, Treasurer
John Rowntree has been a member of the parish for 30 years and currently serves as one of our Vergers. He represents Church of the Good Shepherd on the Nashua Area Interfaith Council, where he also serves on the board and is a past President. As a long-standing co-leader of the Education for Ministry program, now in his 15th year, John continues to mentor and support faith exploration within the parish. Deeply committed to stewardship and justice, John has helped secure external funding for capital improvements, most notably the parish’s recent solar installation. He has served on the NH Episcopal Earth Care Commission, the Mission Resources Commission, and is a member of the newly formed Micah 6:8 Commission. This marks his fourth term serving on the Vestry.

Danielle English, Clerk
Danielle English has been a member of CGS since 2023. She is currently involved as a vestry member, Sunday School teacher, liturgy reader, and communications committee member. She hopes to organize events to bring the multi-generational CGS community together. For example, she is interested in starting a walking group through Mines Falls to connect with fellow parishioners and enjoy God’s creation.
Danielle lives in Nashua with her husband and 2 children. She works as an Integrative Nurse Practitioner. When she’s not spending time with her family, she enjoys walking in nature, reading, journaling, and studying herbalism.
